Participation: This class will be highly interactive and students are encouraged to contribute to the class discussions. There will be a weekly grade based on participation and reading discussion/quizzes.

Reading: Reading assigments in your textbook will be posted on this site and announced in class. You should read and think about the daily reading assignment before you come to class that day and be prepared to discuss it. There might even be  a short quiz.

Homework: Probably the most important part of this class, homework is where you put the skills learned in class to solve problems. You are encouraged to work in groups with other students, but DO NOT COPY each other. Copying is considered cheating. You will need to be able to do similar problems on the tests and final exam.

Labs: As with any science, this class will have a hands-on aspect where you will get to put ideas to use and perhaps discover new ideas. You will be graded on lab participation as well as an informal lab report.

Tests: After we finish discussing a topic, there will be a test. This will give you a chance to review what we've seen and help you prepare for the final exam.

Extra Credit: There will be a couple of opportunities to get extra credit throughout the semester. An ongoing one is to bring in a song that relates in some funamental way to what we are studying in class.
